An international research team at Swansea University in the UK recently received an international award for developing a graphene biosensor-based diagnostic test for ovarian cancer that is said to offer quicker and more accurate results in a less expensive, as well as portable way.
An annual prize worth £50,000 has been awarded to two young Manchester researchers to help set-up a new graphene business venture. Durham University spin-out Applied Graphene Materials has revealed plans for a share placing to raise a minimum of £9m. Haydale Graphene Industries PLC (LON:HAYD) is proposing to raise up to £9mln through the issue of shares at not less than 120p each. A book-building process is under way to place 5mln new shares, while qualifying shareholders will be able to subscribe shares at the same price.
